Lion TV EPG Not Showing? How to Fix the TV Guide
The electronic programme guide is what turns a wall of channels into television you can plan around, so an EPG that shows 'no information' everywhere is one of the most annoying faults in any IPTV setup. In the Lion TV guide view, missing programme data almost always has one of four causes: the guide source does not match the playlist, the guide has not refreshed yet, the time is set wrong, or the provider simply does not supply data for those channels.
This guide works through those four in the order you should test them, from the two-minute checks to the provider conversation.
Give the Guide Time to Load
EPG data is a separate download from the channel list, and for a large playlist it can be several megabytes covering thousands of channels. On first setup — or after adding a playlist — allow several minutes on a decent connection before judging the guide broken. Many 'faults' are simply impatience measured against a big file.
Leave the app open on the channel list during that first load rather than hopping between sections, and expect the guide to fill in progressively: popular channels usually populate before obscure ones.
Match the EPG Source to the Playlist
With an Xtream Codes login, the guide normally binds automatically, because the account carries its own EPG. With an M3U playlist, the guide comes from a separate EPG URL that must describe the same channels as the playlist. A guide built for a different package will attach data to the wrong channels or to none at all.
If your provider gave you both links, confirm the EPG link belongs to the same service and package as the playlist link. Mixing a playlist from one provider with a guide from another produces exactly the half-empty guide users describe. Revisit how the playlist was added in our M3U setup guide if you are unsure which links you used.
Check the Clock and Time Zone
A guide can be fully loaded and still look wrong if the device clock is off: programmes shift by hours, 'now' highlights land on the wrong shows, and recordings or reminders misfire. Confirm the phone or TV box is set to automatic date, time, and time zone from the network.
This fault is especially common on TV boxes that lose power often, because a box that boots with a wrong clock shows a guide that is confidently, uniformly wrong — every channel shifted by the same amount is the signature of a clock problem, not a data problem.
Refresh, Then Ask the Provider
Force a guide refresh from the player's settings or by reopening the playlist, and give it the same patient few minutes as the first load. If specific channels never carry data while neighbours do, the provider's guide simply does not cover them — common for small regional and niche channels — and no player setting can invent the missing information.
When the whole guide is empty after an hour with correct sources and a correct clock, that is a provider-side conversation: tell them which playlist type you use and when it last worked, and they can check their EPG feed directly. The wider fault tree, including app-level causes, is in our not working fixes.
Final Thoughts
Patience first, matching sources second, the clock third, the provider last. Work through the EPG in that order and the guide almost always returns — and once it does, the whole service feels twice as usable, because you can finally see what is on.
